Dennis Kaspar
Does froxlor support to use a database on another server? I mean, if I want to install froxlor via aptitude, its gonna install mariadb server and so on. But can we set, to use another server, which is dedicated for database hosting? 0 Charles Williams
Dennis, The fact that mariadb/mysql is installed as a "requirement" when installing froxlor is a long standing error in the package build and does not mean you cannot use a remote mysql server. Just make sure and at least disable the local mysql server after installing froxlor. We actually rebuild the debian package in-house correctly to reflect Debian package protocols and ensure that when we update our servers we have no unwanted issues. 0 d00p
it might be worth thinking about putting the mysql/mariadb server in another section so it does not get pulled - but then again 99,9% of the users will struggle and ask "why don't you require that?" - not that easy
