Does froxlor support to use a database on another server?

I mean, if I want to install froxlor via aptitude, its gonna install mariadb server and so on. But can we set, to use another server, which is dedicated for database hosting?

Dennis,

The fact that mariadb/mysql is installed as a "requirement" when installing froxlor is a long standing error in the package build and does not mean you cannot use a remote mysql server.

Just make sure and at least disable the local mysql server after installing froxlor. We actually rebuild the debian package in-house correctly to reflect Debian package protocols and ensure that when we update our servers we have no unwanted issues.

it might be worth thinking about putting the mysql/mariadb server in another section so it does not get pulled - but then again 99,9% of the users will struggle and ask "why don't you require that?" - not that easy
