the long term support for Debian 6 Squeeze is coming to an end in February. So I'm planning on upgrading my server soon. I would use this opportunity to also upgrade the hardware, so I'm looking at a re-install and migration of the data.
In general, what would you recommend:
Clone old system to new server and upgrade, or do a fresh install and migrate all data? Why?
Then there's the question about the distribution. I've been very happy with Debian in the last decade, so I'd like to keep it. Should I go with 7 or 8? Just read that some changes have been made to Froxlor for 8 - is it maybe still a bit early to go with Jessie regarding Froxlor support? I'm also not very excited about the change to systemd in Jessie.
I don't need any advanced features, the most important to me is a smooth upgrade and secure and stable operation.
