Let me say that I am NOT familiar with Froxlor (I just ran across it today during a google search for something else) I have been running my own FreeBSD servers for about years.

I am running FreeBSD 8.2-Stable (as of March 11, 2011) and installed froxlor-0.9.17 from the ports tree.

cd /usr/ports/sysutils/froxlor

make install clean

I had previously installed the other prerequisites from the ports tree so Apache, bind, postfix, etc. were already running. I am also running mysql-server-5.5.9 which caused a problem in the install.

When running the install at http://192.168.0.11/froxlor/install/install.php it displayed a MySQL error. ?mysql error desc: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=HEAP' at line 13

Time/date: 12/03/2011 01:17 PM

Script: /froxlor/install/install.php?.

From what I found out Froxlor is using a now depreciated syntax. Running the following command fixed the install script.

sed -i '' -e 's/TYPE=HEAP//g' /usr/local/www/froxlor/install/froxlor.sql

I then reran http://192.168.0.11/froxlor/install/install.php and the Froxlor install completed.

Once you have Froxlor running in a web browser there are links for how to configure all of the other supported software.

I probably had Froxlor running within 2 hours of learning of its existence. If you have more specific questions about installing Foxlor on FreeBSD please let me know and I will try and help.

Hey did you think about publishing your PDF doc in the Froxlor wiki? I think there would be a lot of people which see your tips very useful. May we can advertise some new Froxlor users on FreeBSD :)

Installation is the same procedure on almost all systems (only debian has .deb and gentoo its ebuild). Just extract the tarball and open the ip/path with your browser, configuration steps for the services can be found in the panel itself after installation

I could not have opportunity to install froxlor with make install command.

I am not sure how can I install froxlor instead of upgraading from syscp?

and I wonder that the configuration files are latest instructions for freebsd?

because syscp and froxlor has different instructions and I could not be able to run postfix :(

1) there is not 'make install' for froxlor, please use the tarball archive

2) install instead of upgrade -> just don't use the same database name (but it's not wise to have both installed on the same machine)

3) instructions pretty up-to-date thx to the community
