How to Install

Trunkles

Question

Hi.

Does anyone have a set of installation instructions for ubuntu 10.04? I looked at the documentation list but there was nothing I could see that would do it.

As I have installed encp and failed to get it working, should I re-install ubuntu rather than try and remove ehcp?

Thanks.

Simon.

The installation process is the same on ubuntu 10.04 as it is for Debian or any other system

  1. cd /var/www
  2. wget http://files.froxlor.org/releases/froxlor-latest.tar.gz
  3. tar -xvfz froxlor-latest.tar.gz
  4. chown -R [webserver-user]:[webserver-user] /var/www/froxlor/
  5. open http://your-ip/froxlor in your webbrowser

Well, I re-installed ubuntu from scratch. Only extra package I included was samba and yes, I can see the server from my workstation.

I followed your instructions (taking the z off the tar options) and Firefix returned "Firefox can't establish a connection to the..." error.

Quite what I've done wrong is beyond me! :(

Well "can't establich a connection" means either the webserver is not runninng or the server is not reachable at all

Er... I re-installed ubuntu with samba as the only extra package. I configured networking and samba then followed your instructions.

That was wrong?

no, that was correct, but Froxlor does not check if your server is reachable from "the outside", you have to take care of that (or your provider).

Can you ping your server IP from home?

Yep, pings fine and a samba connection works perfectly. The server is located by my left shoulder and is on the same subnet as my desktop, so I did http://192.168.1.1/froxlor in firefox.
