CentOS 7 or Ubuntu 14 for fresh start?

Hello,

I'm about doing a fresh restart with hosting with froxlor. I read several times that many people are currently preferring CentOS over Ubuntu because of a lack of stability. However, I also read that CentOS is using older kinda deprecated packages. Now I don't know which to choose. I think configs are mostly the same and yes..? What would you advise?

And if I'd use Ubuntu should I rather choose 14.10 or keep up with 14.04 because of LTS, but when staying with LTS version I could directly use CentOS which is better known as server OS, right?

I'd say, use the distro you know best and you are comfortable with. At the end, it'syou that has to administrate the box, so you chose!

I'm planning an upgrade of the whole mail/web/froxlor server and I'm thinking of jumping from ubuntu (10.x) to the latest Debian.

There's a package for froxlor/debian and debian is very close to ubuntu in admin so it shouldn't be too big a change.

I see. However, I was about getting the most recent ISO with lowest required manual work.
